Adventures in Learning is Sunday School classes that meet every Sunday from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm.  There are classes for all ages!  The new Adventures in Learning season kicks off with Rally Day on September 9th, and classes begin to meet again on September 16th.  Take a look at our class offerings below:

Children and Youth Adventures in Learning Classes  - We were very excited this year to introduce a new curriculum for our children's classes called "LIVE BIG: Hear, See, and Live Your Belief In God".  This thoroughly modern, up-to-date curriculum combines DVD segments with exciting and varied activities to teach the bible and make faith real in our children's lives.  There are 3 classes for the different age groups:

Big Fun for 4, 5 and 6 year olds

The Big Room for 2nd-5th graders

The Big Idea for 6th-8th graders

Youth Class for 9th-12th graders (The high school group recently explored Christian character traits using the novel “Life of Pi”, and journaled their reflections on the psalms)

Adult Adventures in Learning Classes:

Bible Fellowship Class (Teachers: Rev. Carol McVetty and selected class members) - This new class will emphasize Bible study and caring friendships.  It will use the Judson Journey's curriculum which focuses this Fall on the book of Genesis.  Meets in Kraft Chapel

Crossroads Class & Young Adults Class (Leaders: Rev. Carol McVetty and selected class members) - These two classes will join together for "Living the Questions".  This DVD and web-based exploration of Christian faith will not hand out ready-made answers, but draws class members into a conversation with leading contemporary voices of faith such as: Helen Prejean, Rita Nakashima Brock, Hans Kung, and Mel White.  Meets in Room 311

Filipino Class (Teacher: Ed Masa) - Same fellowship, same format, new location.  The focus of study this Fall is "Genesis: The God of Promises Creates a People".  Meets in Room 316

Hispanic Class I (Teacher: Rev. Santiago Piñón) - Meets in North Howel Hall

Hispanic Class II (Teacher: Olga Diaz) - Lecciones Cristianas, "Dios crea a su pueblo".  Meets in Room 306

Japanese Class (Teacher: Yuki Scroggins) Meets in Room 108 at 10:00 am

Karen Fellowship Class - Meets in Room 315

Life and Lectionary Discussion (Leader: John Dawson) - A relaxed discussion group that reflects on the Lectionary texts for the week and how they might form our 21st century lives.  The Lectionary is a cycle of scripture readings for worship that has very ancient roots and is shared by many Christian denominations.  It is the source of the scripture readings used each Sunday at North Shore.  Meets in Room 210
