A Prayer for Peace
Compiled from the prayers of the Hispanic Congregation
We are affected by so much in our daily living. Selfishness, putting others before ourselves, separates the human being from its most complete being. Violence threatens peace in our families, in our whole world. Intolerance jeopardizes family unity and the ties of friendship.
Even though we have God, the experiences we have faced cause us to fear moving forward and facing the unknown. In the midst of pain, faith goes away, even though it is then that we need strength the most.
But prayer and love are the key, and they are powerful weapons.
Because God is everything in this life, and God is a God of love. Violence ends when God dwells in which person, because He is peace, and he gives us love, so that we might also give love. By loving God, we can love others as ourselves. When we love others, we are loving God. May love endure between us, and may we teach love in the works and testimonies of our lives.
It is easy to hate and difficult to love when many people do not accept others. But love is stronger than hate. Together, we can have peace among everyone. The love of God can overcome all the negativity.
All-powerful God, I know that with prayer we can fight anything that wants to harm us, and that nothing will touch us, because we are with you and you with us. Because you guide us, you lead us.
Take control of this world and calm the fearful. Give peace to the weary heart. Teach us to remove the stones from the path and to rebuke the Enemy, to bring about a prosperous future, to live what God has prepared, to always see, hear, and touch positive things, new things.
Lord, I ask that you change us and cleanse us to be your instrument, and that everyone sees in us a reflection of your love.
Bless us, Lord, that we may bless. Help us to be a church united, to open our doors and our arms to all, regardless of color or race. Help us to trust in you and take steps that take us out of comfort and out of fear, with our eyes always on you.
“In days to come Jacob will take root, Israel will bud and blossom and fill all the world with fruit.”
In the name of your son, whom you handed over for love. Amen.
