Pastor Solomon Opehtoo
Solomon Opehtoo graduated with a Bachelor's of Theology from the Karen Baptist Theological Seminary, Myanmar, in 2003. He also holds an M. Div from Myanmar Institute of Theology, a Master of Arts in Theological Studies from the Episcopal Divinity School in Boston, and a Master of Theology from Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago in 2016. Currently, he is a PhD candidate at the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago.
His interest is constructing Karen Liberation Theology for the Karen people who are experiencing suffering under prejudice and discrimination due to their ethnicity. After finishing his doctoral studies, he will go back to the Karen Baptist Theological Seminary to serve on the ministry faculty. He is now living in Chicago with his wife Naw Tha Ghay, his sons Tarsogay Opehtoo and Tarsowah Opehtoo.
As Acting Pastor, Pastor Solomon is shepherding the Karen Fellowship through its discernment process and transition to a new, full-time pastor. He provides spiritual leadership and pastoral care for that community, and also serves as a full member of the pastoral team.
